Former SNL Weekend Update host Seth Meyers reprised his anchorman's role on Saturday night and -- to no one's surprise -- jumped all over President Donald Trump for meeting with Kanye West.
As with the cold opener that the show began with, there was plenty of fodder as he reused one of his own formats of playing "Really?" after making an observation.
Sitting between current Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che, Myers observed, "So Kanye West in the Oval Office? Really? Don’t you have better things to do? And by the way, when I say that, I’m really not sure which of you I’m talking to.”
Meyers then speculated on why the rapper has embraced Trump who is anathema to most African-Americans.
“It’s really very simple," Meyers continued. "Kanye wants to be Trump’s famous friend because Obama called Kanye a jackass and if the president of the United States called you a jackass you’d go, 'You know who I like? I the next president.'”
