On the Overtime portion of HBO's Real Time, host Bill Maher tore into outgoing House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) by saying he is the acknowledged leader of a "party of traitors."
While speaking with former GOP Rep. Dave Jolly (R) about why he abandoned the Republican Party, Maher decried the current state of the GOP saying they are more interested in following Russia's lead than what is good for America.
"There is two parties: the Democrats and the traitors and it is not a big issue," Maher bluntly began to applause
"I often read that Paul Ryan quote," he continued. "They got him on tape, behind closed doors saying -- I think it is somebody else saying -- 'You know there is two Republicans who are on Putin's payroll -- Donald Trump and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA).' And Paul Ryan doesn't go, "Oh my God, let's go to the FBI!' Instead, he goes, "Okay, that doesn't leave the room.'"
"I mean, that's not treason?" he asked rhetorically.
