In a Thursday Twitter battle, CNN host Chris Cuomo issued an epic rebuke of Fox News' Geraldo Rivera for downplaying Michael Cohen's plea deal and the information he revealed about President Donald Trump.
"Guilty plea by [Michael Cohen] like all other pleas [and] convictions related to #SpecialCounsel does not implicate [Donald Trump]" Rivera tweeted. "Cohen lied-got caught-squeezed-abandoned privilege-turned rat-pled guilty. There’s still 0 #Mueller’s done that alleges @POTUS colluded [with] #Russia."
Michael Cohen revealed that the president lied multiple times about the deals he was working in Russia as well as the on-going conversations the Trump Org. was having well into his presidency.
"Are we in the mob?" asked Cuomo. "Telling the truth about a matter of potential national security is not ratting. Mueller believes him because they have proof of what he now admits. Potus forwarded same lie as Cohen during campaign and after. So now what?"
Allies of Trump have spent the day trying to downplay Cohen's information or outright calling him a liar. Trump ally Alan Dershowitz even went so far as to alledge that everyone working with special counsel Bob Mueller has given him false information. Only the president is the one telling the truth, he claimed. As part of his plea deal, Cohen provided documents, emails and information that corroborated his claims. Trump has yet to do the same.
