Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday suggested that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort could still be in line for a presidential pardon even if he met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during the 2016 campaign.
In a bombshell report on Tuesday, The Guardian revealed that Manafort met with Assange on at least three occasions in 2013, 2015 and 2016. The meetings came just months before WikiLeaks helped Russia launder stolen emails to boost the campaign of then-candidate Donald Trump.
The New York Daily News on Tuesday asked Giuliani if Trump had been aware of the meetings.
“I don’t know about it and if I don't know about it, he doesn’t know it,” Giuliani insisted. “The President knows very little of Julian Assange.”
Giuliani also said that a pardon was still on the table for Manafort.
“Pardons are never really ruled out,” he explained.
