On Friday, Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) revealed to CNN host Brianna Keilar that General Michael Flynn is "covering up" his contacts with Russia.
In released legal documents, Flynn claimed that he didn’t know that it was against the law to lie to the FBI. Speier blasted Flynn by saying that she didn't understand how he got the job in the first place.
"It really causes me to wonder how he ever got to be the Defense Intelligence Agency Director," Speier said. "This is someone who had to know that we would be eavesdropping on foreign adversaries in the United States."
She added, "For him to be so naive is really quite stunning. I think that we shouldn't give him a pass at all. He was a highly ranked general."
She then suggested that more information about his Russian contacts will be released to the public soon.
"Do you think that he may have had additional contacts with Russians, that he was trying to cover up?" Keilar asked.
"I don't think there's any question that he was trying to cover up. That's why he lied. And if there are additional conversations he had, I'm sure that will come out," Speier responded.
