Former Vice President and possible 2020 Presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke Wednesday evening at the annual gala of the Lantos Foundation about human rights and the growing incidents of hate-directed violence.

Biden reminded his audience that the trend is definitely going in the wrong direction, up 60 percent in 2017, more than any change since 1970, the Anti-Defamation League reported.

“The leadership has given license to this prejudice,” said Biden.

In a quick discussion about the appearance on CNN, host Don Lemon said that Trump's name was never mentioned, but it was obvious who he was talking about.

Tom Lantos is a former Democratic member of Congress and Holocaust survivor who, with his wife Annette, fought tirelessly for human rights and dignity. As Representative, he founded the original Human Rights Caucus.
