Digging deep into the very public dispute between President Donald Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway and her Trump-bashing lawyer husband George Conway, a CNN panel said she brought the focus on their marriage by agreeing to do an ill-fated profile piece with the Washington Post which she now regrets.
Attorney George Conway's almost daily attacks via Twitter reached a new level of scrutiny on Monday night when Eric Trump inserted himself into their family squabble by calling out Conway over his "utter disrespect" for his wife.
On Twitter, the second Trump son wrote: "Of all the ugliness in politics, the utter disrespect George Conway shows toward his wife, her career, place of work, and everything she has fought SO hard to achieve, might top them all. @KellyannePolls is great person and frankly his actions are horrible."
According to CNN contributor David Gregory, Eric Trump's comments highlights the fact that the Conway marriage has become an object of fascination because Kellyanne Conway tried to criticize her husband off the record after she agreed to a profile piece with the Washington Post.
Specifically addressing Eric Trump's tweet, Gregory said, "It's striking to me that you, you know, insert yourself into that and I think that Kellyanne Conway has also taken umbrage and questions about this in their marriage."
"They invited the Washington Post in to dissect their marriage," he added as CNN host John Berman jumped into remark," "It didn't go well," as the panel began to laugh.
"Which is why she wanted it retroactively off the record, " Gregory quipped.
