A University of Tennessee student was suspended by her sorority after uttering a racial slur in a video shared on social media.

The Alpha Chi Omega chapter at the Knoxville campus tweeted Thursday afternoon the woman had been suspended immediately over "outrageous and racist conduct," reported the Knoxville News Sentinel.

The student, who was identified on social media as Savannah Micillo, can be seen in a dimly lit video smoking a cigarette and talking to a man off camera.

“Sav, what do you call black people?” the man asks.

"N*ggers," the student says, after exhaling smoke.

The video was shared by a Twitter user who identifies herself as a recent Tennessee graduate, and she tagged the sorority and asked whether the student's behavior was tolerated.

"Our chapter and this entire campus should be able to expect far more from our members," the UT chapter of Alpha Chi Omega tweeted in response.
