MSNBC's Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski agreed President Donald Trump's puzzling behavior strongly suggested he was a Russian asset -- if not an agent.
The "Morning Joe" hosts said the president had always behaved strangely toward Russia, and they said his reported desire to pull the U.S. out of NATO was especially worrisome, but they agreed he was more of a dupe than a spy.
"Donald Trump is not an agent, I'm serious, he doesn't have the bandwidth to do it, doesn't have the discipline to do it," Scarborough said. "He blurts out everything in his mind, but is he an asset?"
Brzezinski quickly chimed in: "100 percent."
Scarborough tapped the brakes: "100 percent, he might be. Let's put it that way, Mika."
But he agreed ample evidence supported the FBI's suspicions that Trump was working to advance Russian interests, rather than the nation he has sworn to protect and preserve.
"You look at what Donald Trump has been trying to do on the international stage, and there is not a Republican on Capitol Hill today that wouldn't say that what he has been doing is trying to help (Vladimir) Putin, praising Putin," Scarborough said. "His words and deeds leave no doubt that this guy is trying to help Russia any way he can."
