Harry Litman, a former U.S. Attorney and Deputy Assistant Attorney General, told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell on Monday that the latest revelations surrounding the Trump Tower Moscow project potentially spell big trouble for President Donald Trump's children.

During a panel discussion about Trump Tower Moscow, Mitchell asked Litman what he made of the fact that Trump was praising Russian President Vladimir Putin and proposing a Russia-friendly foreign policy during the 2016 presidential campaign even as he was negotiating to develop a major property on Russian soil.

"How does he get away with this politically?" Mitchell wondered.

"Boy, you tell me," Litman responded. "There are so many events -- you know, a couple dozen -- that now look so different in the retrospective look, knowing that he was not just trying to feather his nest, this was going to be his biggest project ever."

Given the past involvement of the Trump family in working on the project, Litman continued, the president should be very nervous about his children being in legal hot water.

"By the way, [this] deeply implicates both Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump," he said. "Donald Trump Jr., in particular... may be very exposed now to criminal liability."
