MSNBC's Donny Deustch ridiculed President Donald Trump for appearing at a media briefing flanked by identically bald, stern-looking law enforcement officials as diverse and jubilant Democrats were sworn into Congress.
The "Morning Joe" contributor and branding expert said the side-by-side juxtaposition of the two simultaneous was jarring.
"That was very clear," Deutsch said. "I mean, you have four white men, you have four stoic, strong white men of a certain age, not smiling, by the way."
Trump's event showed just how far his message had shrunk, Deutsch said.
"Look, this is all Donald has left," he said. "This wall is not a wall. It is a 'let's keep America white again' (stunt) and basically he doesn't have the -- all the things he used to be able to play to, they're not there anymore. This is all he has left to say either the black man or the Jewish man or the banker man -- you're not in position because of you, it's because of everybody else. That's all he has left."
