Former acting Solicitor General of the United States Neal Katyal sat down with CNN's Anderson Cooper for a Wednesday night panel discussion regarding investigations into President Donald Trump.
With ongoing investigations into Trump, Katyal said that the new Democratic majority Congress is about "uncover" damaging crimes that could put the national security of America at risk.
"What makes this so interesting and so significant is there has been a sea change since November," Katyal said. "The smart people at the White House, all one of them, are very worried about what's going to happen because the mandate of Congress is much broader than Mueller."
Katyal explained that for the past two years, Trump has been protected by Republicans, but can no longer hide behind the GOP.
"We've seen Devin Nunes and all of these people, you know, engaged in the protection of the president for the last two years and all sorts of antics. I mean, they're acting kind of like a dog with just what's in front of them and worrying only about that for the last two years," he said.
He added, "And now everything has changed. So there could be potential crimes Congress uncovers, such as a lot of potential lying and a lot of very damaging stuff to our national security."
Katyal then wondered what crimes Trump hasn't committed at this point.
