On Friday, HBO's Bill Maher opened his show by mocking President Donald Trump's increasingly untethered relationship with reality following a week in which he squabbled with his own intelligence chiefs and gave an unhinged interview to the New York Times.

"Today, the bullsh*t rose past eye-level," Maher said. "Now Trump is saying he's already built the wall! He's saying 'with cash on hand.' Well then why did we just have this f*cking shutdown!"

"I can't tell where the lies end and the dementia begins," Maher said. "He cannot tell fiction from reality."

We spent trillions on our intelligence services but Trump refuses to listen to what professionals have learned, Maher said.

"Besides the lies and the crazy, he is just aggressively stupid," Maher said.
