MSNBC's Donny Deutsch laid bare "two stunning lies" in President Donald Trump's early morning Twitter attack against his former attorney Michael Cohen.

The "Morning Joe" contributor is friends with Cohen and has known Trump for years, and he said the president's social media attack from Vietnam, where's meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was fundamentally dishonest.

"Let's go back to the tweet, two stunning lies," Deutsch said. "First of all, he cannot reduce his sentence. If anything, he can hurt himself. Telling the truth does not reduce his jail time -- if he lies, he perjures himself and will get more jail time."

"But the big lie in there was he was one of the many lawyers," Deutsch continued. "I've known Michael for a decade, most of the time he was there, and Trump for 20 years. He was his body man, he was an additional child. The dynamic of the relationship, it's not what a lawyer does."

"When the birther movement first came out," he added, "I went on air challenging Trump, calling him racist, Michael Cohen called (and said), 'The boss is really hurt, can you get on the phone and kind of make up? He thinks you're his friend.' It's very personal, he knew everything. So he wouldn't be in this kind of trouble right now had he not been in this level of personal (relationship). So that's an out-and-out lie. He was his personal lawyer, he was his body man, his consigliere, his other child -- period, fact."
