In an interview with Axios, House Select Intelligence Committee member Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said his committee will be looking into more than Russian involvement with President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and business dealings that preceded it.

With the Washington Post reporting last year that ,"Trump’s company spent more than $400 million in cash on new properties — including 14 transactions paid for in full, without borrowing from banks — during a buying binge that defied real estate industry practices and Trump’s own history as the self-described 'King of Debt,'" Swalwell said the newly empowered Democrats want to know more about Trump's finances.

"We are going to take an MRI to any Russian financing that the Trump Organization and the president may have had," Swalwell said in an interview last Wednesday night after the committee broke for the evening.

According to the California Democrat, his committee is not going to limit the scope of their inquiry to the Russians and will follow wherever the money takes them.

"But we are not going to be so naive to assume that he's faithful to the Russians. There may have been other countries who have tried to financially influence him," Swalwell admitted without going into details.
