One friend of Stone's, Annemarie McAvoy, noted the judge in Stone's case, Amy Berman Jackson, gave Stone fair warning not to push things too far, but he may have done just that, according to McAvoy.
“She gave him just enough rope to get himself into trouble,” McAvoy told Politico Tuesday. “I don’t know if [Stone] is capable of keeping his mouth shut...it’s just not in his personality and it’s very hard to force someone to change his personality,” she added.
Others told the magazine that Stone might be scared about his upcoming hearing in front of the judge this Thursday.
“He’s on edge," Tyler Nixon, a longtime friend to Stone, told Politico. “Roger probably needs to be slapped on the wrist.”
The article cites friends of Stone who are hopeful the judge would show mercy on Stone for making a "mistake" regarding his Instagram post.
But another Stone pal, Michael Caputo, said that Stone going on offense against the judge was no mistake. “Roger watched other people defend themselves quietly and lose...he’s made the conscious decision to speak loudly and clearly about his innocence throughout the entire process.”
