On Wednesday, President Donald Trump's former fixer Michael Cohen appeared before the House Oversight Committee.

Cohen spoke about touting the Trump narrative for over a decade and expressed contrition for facilitating Trump's misbehavior and possible crimes.

As the Daily Beast observed, Trump supporters Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and HUD official Lynne Patton were in attendance.

Gaetz drew widespread condemnation the night before the hearings by tweeting out an apparent threat against Cohen and suggesting his wife would cheat on him while he was in prison. Gaetz ended up deleting the tweet.

Meanwhile Patton, a former Trump aide and HUD officials, is a guest of Trump ally Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), who tried to halt the hearing before it even began. Patton was introduced to Trump by Cohen.

Gaetz, who is not a member of the House Oversight Committee, told ABC News reporter Benjamin Siegel that he showed up at the hearing because he hoped to ask Cohen a question.
