Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani is happy that his client has been cleared by special counsel Robert Mueller for conspiring with the Russian government during the 2016 presidential election -- but he' still bitter that the special counsel didn't give Trump a total pass on obstruction of justice.
According to Attorney General Bob Barr, Mueller's report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election did not make a determination about whether the president's actions constituted obstruction and merely laid out both sides of the argument.
Giuliani claimed that this shows Mueller's team was divided about whether Trump had illegally tried to obstruct the investigation into Russian interference.
"They didn’t feel capable of making the decision probably because they had dissent within their ranks," Giuliani said during a radio interview, according to Politico's Kyle Cheney. "This extra language not exonerating him... very, very unusual and very unethical."
Despite Giuliani's complaints about Mueller's treatment of the obstruction claim, the former New York mayor described Barr's summary of the Mueller report as the "biggest win" of his career.
