On Friday, Republican pundit Scott Jennings was quickly shut down after he defended Donald Trump Jr's attack on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY.)
While at President Donald Trump's rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan Trump Jr. encouraged the crowd to shout "AOC sucks!"
"The new villain for Republicans, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is fighting back against this attack from Donald Trump Jr.," CNN host Erin Burnett said.
Burnett then played a clip of Ocasio-Cortez response.
"He doesn't have another woman like Hillary Clinton, or whoever else to vilify anymore so they need to find another woman to kind of prop up and become a lightning rod," Ocasio-Cortez said.
"I think she's wrong. I think what they're hating on is the drift of the Democratic Party towards socialism. As long as she's basically the heart and soul of the party, I think they'll keep going back to this well to define the Democrats as socialists as they head towards re-election," Jennings said.
Former Bill Clinton aide Keith Boykin railed against Jennings for his defense and said that Republicans are "fixated" on Ocasio-Cortez because they are afraid of her.
"She's a 29-year-old freshman member of Congress. She has been in office for all of two months. Last year she said at this time she was waitressing at a taco bar. She just got health insurance a month ago," he said.
"She is finding her sealegs as they say. She is not the only voice of the party. Republicans are so fixated on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because she's young and because she's a woman of color and Latino," he said.
Adding, "She's all the things they're afraid of about the changing demographics of this country. It's despicable."
