During the Overtime segment of HBO's "Real Time," a furious Bill Maher launched an attack on President Donald Trump for saying nothing about Russia's meddling in the 2016 election during a phone call with Vladimir Putin.
Posing the question from a viewer to his panel about the phone call, the HBO host took the lead in excoriating Trump.
"'What would you have wanted President Trump to say to Putin during his phone call today?'" Maher read from the viewer request.
"We just go a big report from the Mueller team, it took over two years and the one thing that they said that was the big headline was, 'You definitely interfered in our last election," Maher angrily replied in answer. "If you do it again, there will be serious, serious consequences! That is what any president would do."
Conservative New York Times columnist Bret Stephens immediately chimed to add, "You don't go far enough."
"It's not 'if you if do it again'," Stephens insisted. "You did it. We're going to go after your assets and we're going to go after the assets of your oligarchs. We're going to put a squeeze on your entire financial empire so that things actually hurt you for a change."
