Missouri’s Republican-led Senate passed one of the nation’s strictest abortion bans, to the shock and horror of many.
The GOP majority passed the bill, called Missouri Stands With The Unborn, by a 24-10 margin early Thursday morning, and would outlaw nearly all abortions at eight weeks of pregnancy.
The bill — which like similar bans recently passed in Georgia, Alabama and Ohio will likely prompt a court challenge — must still be approved by the Missouri House it goes to Republican Gov. Mike Parson, who supports the measure.
The legislation allows exceptions in cases of medical emergency but not for rape or incest.

Georgia, then Alabama, then Ohio, then Michigan, then Missouri. All within a week or so of each other. It’s almost as if it is a coordinated, strategic attack on women. https://t.co/WEQI24Vdb1

The Missouri Senate just passed a bill to ban abortions at 8 weeks gestation when many women don’t even know they’re pregnant. This is a coordinated multi-state effort to overturn Roe v. Wade and whoever wins in 2020 will choose the Supreme Court Justices that will decide on it.

Missouri, Alabama, Georgia…it’s no accident that the former slave/Jim Crow states are passing the most draconian laws criminalizing abortion—which, history shows, will disproportionately endanger the health & freedom of poor & minority women. https://t.co/xOJyQ1DWxG

Imagine thinking your state is “pro-life” when it’s 5th in gun violence, restricts birth control access, and blocks Sex Ed from public schools.

As an ob-gyn, I think a focus on *life* would be great. Perhaps you could start by protecting pregnant women’s lives in Missouri? Missouri ranks among the very worst states in terms of maternal mortality, even worse for Black Missourians. https://t.co/9KgtZML26k https://t.co/syNuK6aczk

How far has Gilead spread this morning? Am I still allowed an opinion?

My state, Missouri, passed it overnight. I am physically sick over it

#thursdaymorning America reached Peak Democracy and has begun to recede. You can see the high water mark left by President Obama, and where it started to recede with Merrick Garland. The Alabama and Missouri Senate abortion bills show liberty and rights flowing down the drain.
