President Donald Trump threw shade on his former White House counsel on Saturday.

"I was not going to fire Bob Mueller, and did not fire Bob Mueller," Trump argued on Twitter.

"In fact, he was allowed to finish his report with unprecedented help from the Trump administration," he argued, despite refusing to be interviewed.

After Trump's prolonged bashing of the special counsel, his next comment was biting.

"Actually, lawyer Don McGahn had a much better chance of being fired than Mueller," the president said.

"Never a big fan," Trump added.
