Trump rewards Tom Cotton for ridiculous TV defense of tariffs by plugging senator’s book: ‘Make it big!’

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) went on TV and invoked the troops to defend President Donald Trump's tariffs, and he was rewarded the very next day.

The Arkansas Republican told CBS News on Monday the costs of Trump launching an all-out trade war with China would be "minimal" compared to the hardships faced by U.S. military service members.

"There will be some sacrifices on the part of Americans, I grant you that," Cotton said, "but I also would say that sacrifice is pretty minimal compared to the sacrifices that our soldiers make overseas that are fallen heroes that are laid to rest in Arlington make."

Trump thanked the senator Tuesday morning and promoted his new book, a behind-the-scenes look at the "The Old Guard," the U.S. Army unit that serves at Arlington National Cemetery.
