A boater spotted a large shipment of cocaine floating off the Florida Keys on Saturday, according to the U.S. Border Patrol. The cocaine had a total weight of 69 pounds, and authorities estimate the haul has a street value of more than $1 million. The drugs were found at sea off Islamorada in the Upper Keys, said U.S. Customs and Border Protection Division Chief Adam Hoffner. ———
Former President Donald Trump has lost his final bid to block the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riots from having access to key documents.
In an 8-1 ruling, the Supreme Court ruled that a former president could not invoke executive privilege on White House records if the current president did not also assert that privilege.
"The questions whether and in what circumstances a former president may obtain a court order preventing disclosure of privileged records from his tenure in office, in the face of a determination by the incumbent president to waive the privilege, are unprecedented and raise serious and substantial concerns," the court writes. "The Court of Appeals, however, had no occasion to decide these questions because it analyzed and rejected President Trump's privilege claims 'under any of the tests [he] advocated."
Justice Clarence Thomas was the lone member of the court who dissented from the court's ruling, although he issued no explanation for his dissent.
Biden smacks down Fox News' Peter Doocy when he asks why president is 'pulling the country so far to the left'
"It's a new year," said Doocy. "Why are you trying so hard in your first year to pull the country so far to the left?"
"Well, I'm not," said Biden. "I don't know what you consider to be too far to the left, if, in fact, we're talking about making sure we have the money for COVID, making sure we have the money to put together a bipartisan infrastructure, making sure we are able to provide for those things that, in fact, significantly reduce the burden on working-class people and make them have to continue to work hard. I don't know how that is pointed to the left."
"If you may recall, you guys have been trying to convince me that I am Bernie Sanders," added Biden. "I'm not. I like him, but I'm not Bernie Sanders. I'm not a socialist. I'm a mainstream Democrat, and I have been. Mainstream Democrats — if you notice, the 48 of the 50 Democrats supported me in the Senate on virtually everything I asked."
'I think his meds are wearing off': Trump mocked after falsely accusing Biden of taking only 'softball' questions
Former president Donald Trump issued a statement Wednesday afternoon accusing President Joe Biden of taking only "softball questions" during a White House news conference.
“How come Biden picks a reporter off a list, in all cases softball questions, and then reads the answer?" Trump said in the statement from his Save America PAC. "I would never have been allowed to get away with that, nor would I have to!”
Trump's statement was issued midway through the news conference. Although Biden began by taking questions from pre-selected reporters, he later opened it up to everyone in the room, including calling on reporters from conservative outlets Newsmax and Fox News.
"By the time the statement hit, Biden had made it outdated," CNN senior reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere noted. "Also important: none of the other questions Biden took from the outlets which were not among the deliberately antagonistic could credibly be called 'softball questions,' as he was hammered on topics like inflation, COVID restrictions, gov't competency, more."
Here's how Twitter reacted to Trump's statement.
Pay attention. He\u2019s now opened it up and asked the reporters how long they want to go on. Calm. Collected. No real drama. Nice change. You may/may not like the answers but he\u2019s a pro.
