Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) had some sharp words for his one-time colleagues who are now supporting Rep. Jim Jordan's (R-OH) bid for the speakership despite knowing full well his unproven ability to govern.
In a video posted on his Twitter account, Kinzinger urged just five of his fellow Republicans to stand strong in the wake of pressure from right-wing media, and to refuse to vote for Jordan.
At the same time, Kinzinger heaped scorn on Republicans who had sworn that they would never back Jordan – only to meekly back down this past weekend.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
"A ton of holdouts -- Mike Rogers of Alabama, Ann Wagner of Missouri -- these people that were so anti-Jim Jordan, literally collapsed in a heap in about 24 hours," he said. "Why? Fox News was going to come after them. Because Sean Hannity's booker reached out and asked, 'Are you really going to vote against Jim Jordan?'"
Kinzinger appeared incredulous that such a thing could possibly be intimidating.
"This is an opportunity to be heroic, Republicans!" he said. "It only takes, like, four or five of you. Do not miss this opportunity."
