A fighter jet intercepted a plane Tuesday in restricted airspace during President Joe Biden’s visit to the San Francisco Bay Area, KRON TV reports.
The incident occurred near Marin County.
A fighter jet is seen in video obtained by the television station cutting off the path of the single-engine plane.
North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) officials confirmed that the fighter jet responded to multiple planes that violated temporary flight restrictions.
“#NORAD fighter aircraft have responded to several general aviation aircraft that violated the VIP Temporary Flight Restricted area near San Francisco this morning,” the agency tweeted.
“All three events have concluded without incident.”
The Secret Service told KRON the agency is aware of the aircraft incursions into restricted airspace but said the incidents didn’t impact the president’s visit.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet that the agency is “aware of the event in the Central Marin area, and have a variety of Law Enforcement resources detailed to the event.”
“We request that any persons who do not live in the immediate area stay away due to the fact, roadways are restricted in various locations.”
Biden is in the Bay Area for three days in which the president plans to attend four fundraisers, according to the report.
