The Justice Department prosecutor assigned to targeting President Donald Trump's foes is now apparently going after those who testified against Alex Jones in the Sandy Hook civil case.

Jones posted a letter on X in which Ed Martin, an associate deputy attorney general, contacts a law firm in Connecticut demanding all documents related to FBI Special Agent William Aldenberg. Aldenberg was among the first few law enforcement officials to enter the classroom at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 20 children were shot and killed.

He was the first witness in the civil case involving right-wing podcaster Jones after he lied about the deaths of children and targeted their families.

"In that capacity, I am writing to request information from you regarding your client FBI Special Agent William Aldenberg and his role in certain litigation that may benefit him personally and that may impact our citizens and our legal system. As you may know, there are criminal laws protecting the citizens from actions by government employees who may be acting for personal benefit. I encourage you to review those," wrote Martin.

Martin wanted to know if Aldenberg was paid and alleged he "led litigation and recruited other plaintiffs."

"When he testified in the Jones case, did he make clear the testimony was in his personal capacity?" asked Martin.

Martin asked when Aldenberg recused himself from work over conflicts of interest. "Finally, it came to my attention that one of the vendors, named Berlin Rosen, stated that they were leaders in 'newsjacking' and may have assisted in the Jones case(s). Do you or your clients have a relationship with Berlin Rosen? Do you know how they achieved 'newsjacking?'"

Berlin Rosen is a public relations firm.

Martin then asks that the information be kept confidential. It's unclear how Jones received the letter. Martin has been a guest on Jones' show in the past. Jones also posted a photo of himself with Martin.

"I respectfully request that you and Berlin Rosen keep this correspondence confidential. I do not wish to litigate this in the media," the letter read.

According to Jones, this is an example of Martin finally going after the Democratic Party specifically.

"Breaking! The DOJ's Task Force On Government Weaponization Against The American People Has Launched An Investigation Into The Democrat Party / FBI Directing Illegal Law-fare Against Alex Jones And Infowars," Jones wrote on X.

Political reporter David Weigel for Semafor noted the comment from Martin asking not to litigate the story "in the media."

"Hands letter to Alex Jones who posts it on X," joked Weigel.

The lawsuit against Jones was a civil lawsuit filed by Sandy Hook families and Jones. A jury ordered Jones and his company to pay $1.5 billion in damages, though the bulk of that money has yet to be paid.
