Former federal prosecutor Elie Honig had some sharp words for Trump lawyer Alina Habba after she seemingly spiked the football to celebrate getting the bond her client will have to pay reduced.
Appearing on Fox News on Monday, Habba boasted that "we won" after an appeals court slashed the bond amount Trump must pay to appeal his civil fraud verdict from $464 million to just $175 million.
Habba also took the opportunity to attack New York Attorney General Letitia James.
"I hope she took a little piece of humble pie today because that's what was served to her," she said. "Just a little. But we'll be serving a lot more of that in the next couple of years."
Analyzing Habba's remarks on CNN, Honig appeared taken aback.
"Wow," he said. "A boastful claim there by Alina Habba. The first thing she said was 'We won?!' That's a premature declaration of victory to say the least. That's like spiking the football on the 50 yard line."

Honig called the reduction in the bond amount a "nice ruling" but "to say 'We won' is a ridiculous thing."
He continued: "She needs to sort of get with it a little bit here because in any case you're gonna have decisions you win and decisions you lose. You're gonna have ups and downs. And you don't want to get too down and you can't celebrate like you won the game when you get a pretrial— a pre-appeal [win] in this case ruling."
