The fact that New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg agreed to a 30-day delay to the start of the Trump hush money fraud trial suggests something is seriously awry, according to CNN legal analyst Elie Honig.

Honig, who is an alum of the the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District in Manhattan, discussed his suspicions that there are potential minefields in the thousands of pages of documents that were delivered on Thursday by the SDNY.

The biggest flag raised, Honig suspects, is proof that star witness and former Trump fixer and private attorney Michael Cohen may be unreliable.

Michael Cohen served time in prison after pleading guilty to a variety of charges including criminal tax evasion and campaign finance violations.

Honig said that Trump's attorneys essentially said to the judge, "'Now, we need more time because we have serious stuff in here that we need to use to undermine Michael Cohen!'"

He then added that "the DA, to an extent, agrees with that."

The defense asked for a 90-day delay, but only 30 days were granted.

But Honig said said it was telling that Bragg didn't fight against a shorter delay.

"The DA could have said 'It's all useless, it's all irrelevant' and they did not say that," he explained. "They said, 'There is important stuff in there and this goes to the heart of the case.'"
