Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Reid Forgrave spoke to a parent who was at the Annunciation Catholic School on Wednesday morning in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The parent said they were sitting in a back pew for the 8:15 a.m. morning Mass when a shooter opened fire outside the building "with some kind of semiautomatic weapon."

According to Forgrave, the parent said, "He just pepper-sprayed through the stained-glass windows into the building, 50 to 100 shots. He killed two kids."

"This is terrible. This is evil. I don't know how you defend against this," the parent added.

This is the first week of school for the children.

Police said that the shooter has died.
