House Republicans held yet another impeachment inquiry hearing this week that underwhelmed many observers, with even some conservatives who want to impeach President Joe Biden describing it as a massive flop.
However, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) is now trying to keep the inquiry alive by demanding testimony from President Joe Biden himself, despite the fact that the inquiry has yet to produce any evidence of a high crime or misdemeanor committed by the president.
As The Guardian reports, some Biden White House officials are literally laughing off Comer's latest demands, with Biden spokesman Iam Sams writing, "LOL" in response to Comer's statement that he would "invite President Biden to the oversight committee to provide his testimony and explain why his family received tens of millions of dollars."

Sams then elaborated to say why he thinks it would be a waste of Biden's time to testify before Comer's inquiry.
“Comer knows 20-plus witnesses have testified that [Joe Biden] did nothing wrong," wrote Sams. "He knows that the hundreds of thousands of pages of records he’s received have refuted his false allegations. This is a sad stunt at the end of a dead impeachment. Call it a day, pal.”
The GOP's impeachment gambit began to fall apart earlier this year when former FBI informant Alexander Smirnov, a key witness, was arrested and charged with lying to law enforcement officials about Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, receiving bribes from Ukrainian energy company Burisma in exchange for the firing of former Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.
Many foreign policy experts had long been skeptical of this claim given that pushing for Shokin's firing had been official American government policy and not simply an initiative concocted by Biden for the benefit of his son.
