Former President Bill Clinton will take the stage Wednesday at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago to support Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency.
Clinton, who presided over two terms in the 1990s after serving as governor of Arkansas, oversaw a rapid period of economic growth driven by the expansion of the internet, and navigated a transitional period of foreign policy for the United States following the Soviet Union's collapse and the end of the Cold War.
His presidency was also marked by drama following Republican efforts to impeach him over his response to a sex scandal. His First Lady, Hillary Clinton, who delivered another headline speech earlier in the convention, was a key driver of policy in his administration and later went on to run for president herself, in both 2008 and 2016.
He speaks on the same night that Harris' running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will also take the stage.
