HBO "Real Time" host Bill Maher offered praise for the People's Republic of China on Friday evening.
"New rule: you're not going to win the battle for the 21st century if you are a silly country," Maher began. "And Americans are a silly people."
"Do you know who doesn't care that there's a stereograph of a Chinese man in a Dr. Seuss book? China," he said. "All 1.4 billion of them could give a crouching tiger, flying f*ck. Because they're not a silly people. If anything they're as serious as a prison fight."
Maher criticized China, but said, "there's got to be something between authoritarian government that tells everyone what to do and a representative government that can't do anything at all."
Maher went on to praise China for building cities, expanding the middle class, business acumen and buying Africa.
"We lost," Maher declared.
