In the wake of the horrific suspected antisemitic terror attack in Boulder, Colorado, Jewish lawmakers are speaking out in fear that political violence against Jews in America could be escalating, Axios reported on Monday evening.

In this attack, a man lobbed Molotov cocktails into a rally for the release of hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza, and shouted "Free Palestine!" Eight people, ranging from age 52 to 88, were hospitalized.

Jewish lawmakers in the House "are worried by a spate of attacks aimed at Jews — and are openly saying they may be next on the target list," said the report. "There has been a sharp rise in antisemitism and threats against lawmakers in recent years. For some Jewish representatives, the two trends are eerily correlated."

Several lawmakers opened up to Axios. Rep. Greg Landsman (D-OH) said, "The number of times in the course of a week I'm called a 'Jewish demon' is pretty unsettling." Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL), meanwhile, said, "It's a dangerous world. I will not let this become normal ... and I will not let this force me to back away or fail to do what I need to do representing all my constituents in the 10th district."

President Donald Trump, for his part, blamed the attack in Boulder on former President Joe Biden, proclaiming, "Yesterday's horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in the United States of America. He came in through Biden's ridiculous Open Border Policy, which has hurt our Country so badly. He must go out under 'TRUMP' Policy."

But some right-wing, pro-Trump elements themselves have been accused of fanning the flames of anti-Jewish hatred, with prominent Trump youth activist Charlie Kirk saying on his podcast Monday that he is tired of Jews voting for the Democratic Party.

"To the Jews of America, how are you still voting Democrat, and why are you still giving money to the institutions and the charities and the political parties that hate you and want you dead?" said Kirk. "My tolerance with the American Jews that are giving money and playing footsie with the American left is nothing. In fact, my patience has completely run out."
