Fox News' Bret Baier slaps down Trump fan who asked if he's part of DOJ 'entrapment' plot
Fox News/screen grab

As fans of former President Donald Trump increasingly turn against Fox News, anchor Bret Baier has become a particular target of their ire after he thoroughly grilled the former president on a wide array of topics earlier this week.

One Trump supporter on Wednesday took to Twitter to ask Baier if he were part of a nefarious deep-state plot to put the former president in jail by getting him to incriminate himself on national television.

"The big question is did Bret Baier have any contact with the DOJ to try and entrap [Trump] into incriminating himself," the Trump supporter wrote. "Who wrote his questions. The DOJ will be using his interview against him."

Baier responded directly to the Trump supporter's claim.

"No. I wrote my own questions," Baier shot back. "And frankly I didn’t know that I would get much on the indictment questions assuming he might say he couldn’t talk about it. Thanks for watching."

Legal experts have argued that Trump made multiple incriminating statements during his interview with Baier, in particular his claim that he didn't comply with a grand jury subpoena requesting he return top-secret government documents because he never had time to sort through all of the boxes to separate out the nation's nuclear secrets from pairs of pants and golf shirts he also stored in them.
