Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) brought her six-month-old baby, Sam, with her to question Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on the agency’s independence from politics Tuesday, and it drove MAGA world insane.
MAGA political commentator Gunther Eagleman posted on X, “I'll say this for the people in the back. If you are ELECTED, then do your JOB. Bringing your child to a hearing as a PROP shouldn't be allowed to happen. Congress provides daycare. USE IT.”
Eagleman's post included a photo of Pettersen and the baby. A reply from The Great Reckoning tagged Pettersen saying, “@GuntherEagleman Hey @RepPettersen, I think G is talking about you. Get to work, r-----d.”
Patterson has been pushing Congress to update rules surrounding maternity care for lawmakers, and has frequently brought her child to work with her.
Jaywan Inc., which has more than 255,000 followers, wrote “@RepPettersen @jaketapper Hey, what the f— are you doing bringing your kid to work on national TV?”
They added, “Can you be any more of a ghetto, white trash slob? Show some respect for the American people you represent. GET A F—-ING BABYSITTER ALREADY."
Self-proclaimed “Biased Journalist.” Tom Elliott chimed in, saying, “What's the point of being in Congress if you can't use your kid as a prop? (cc @RepPettersen).
H.E. Davis replied, "@tomselliott @RepPettersen It's been getting old as on every photo-op opportunity, she has the baby in her arms. The more tiresome it becomes, the more she doubles down on it. When he becomes too big to carry around the Capitol, I suppose she will just ‘create’ a replacement for him.” The post ended with an eye roll emoji.
Brent aka Blacklion said on X, “It's bring your child to work day in Congress apparently. Baby Pettersen has some questions for the chair."
Conservative Chris Pressley, who boasts 5,000 followers, added, "Pettersen is using her baby for another photo op AGAIN!” Pressley added an eye roll emoji at the end of their post.
Powell, for his part, was respectful to both Pettersen and Sam. He answered Pettersen’s questions while Sam played with the microphone and even thanked the mom and tot for their thoughts.
