Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) on Wednesday heaped scorn upon former colleague Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for his slavish obedience to former President Donald Trump despite being subjected to nonstop humiliation.
After watching video of Graham getting booed by his own constituents at a recent South Carolina Trump rally, McCaskill noted that Trump would go on to mock Graham as a "liberal" while addressing his supporters, despite the fact that Graham has been one of Trump's most tireless defenders.
"[Trump] treated him like he was a piece of dirt under his shoe," she explained.
She then made a direct appeal for Graham and practically begged him to stop pretending he likes the former president, who was impeached on two separate occasions and now faces two separate criminal indictments.

"Lindsey, it's not working," she said. "You cannot put aside your convictions and your character to support this man. It will not work. He knows this guy is trouble for the United States of America... so Lindsey, find yourself in this moment. Use this as a teaching moment. You need to be Lindsey, not some embarrassing sycophant."
Although Graham was once one of Trump's biggest critics in the Republican Party, he shifted his tone after the former president won an upset election in 2016 and went on to defend the former president even after he incited a riot at the United States Capitol building that sent Graham and other lawmakers fleeing for their lives.
