A senior advisor to Donald Trump's presidential campaign took an early victory lap on Tuesday night as more states were called for the former president.

Chris LaCivita posted on the social media platform X "Enjoy retirement" over a screenshot of a 2016 article from FiveThirtyEight dubbing pollster Ann Selzer "The best pollster in politics."

Selzer, a renowned Iowa pollster, accurately predicted Donald Trump's 2016 and 2020 wins in the state, but made waves in 2024 when she had Vice President Kamala Harris leading the former president.

Her prediction turned out to be incorrect, however, as multiple news outlets reported Trump won Iowa on election night.

Axios reporter Alex Thompson chimed in on X, "Ann Selzer is a great pollster but appears she was off this time. AP calls Iowa for Trump."
