House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Monday announced plans to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress over a document alleging President Joe Biden’s involvement in a bribery scheme, Fox News reports.

Comer and Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) were briefed and allowed to view the document (an FBI-generated FD-1023 form) that allegedly shows that, while serving as vice president, Biden and a foreign national were involved in a $5 million criminal scheme.

The FBI initially sought to allow the lawmakers to review the document at FBI headquarters but it was taken to Capitol Hill amid threats to hold Wray in contempt.

The accommodations didn’t satisfy Comer, according to the report.

"At the briefing, the FBI again refused to hand over the unclassified record to the custody of the House Oversight Committee," Comer said. "And we will now initiate contempt of Congress hearings this Thursday.

"Given the severity and complexity of the allegations contained within this record, Congress must investigate further. ...The investigation is not dead. This is only the beginning."
