NBA star Kyrie Irving sidelined by the Nets for refusing COVID-19 vaccination

The Brooklyn Nets decided Tuesday to bar star guard Kyrie Irving from practice as well as games in the NBA season that starts next week because he refuses to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

"Given the evolving nature of the situation and after thorough deliberation, we have decided Kyrie Irving will not play or practice with the team until he is eligible to be a full participant," Nets general manager Sean Marks said.

Texas governor bans all Covid-19 vaccine mandates, accuses Biden of bullying

Texas' Republican governor Gregg Abbott on Monday announced he was banning Covid-19 vaccine mandates for any entities in his state, including private companies.

Anti-vaxxers are being mocked in Halloween graveyard displays around the US

The outbreak of anti-vaccine behavior by Americans this year led to a slew of mockery of the conspiracy theorists in Halloween displays.

Local news stations are reporting several graveyard displays in front of homes with anti-vaccine slogans like "I did my own research" or "I don't know what's in it" written on the tombstones. Some skeletons are being seen with their own anti-vaccine protest signs reading "government conspiracy," "bathed in the blood," "personal freedom" and "I refuse to live afraid."

Merck applies for US emergency authorization of COVID-19 pill

(Reuters) - Merck & Co Inc said on Monday it has applied for emergency use authorization in the United States for its oral drug to treat mild-to-moderate patients of COVID-19.

The treatment, molnupiravir, has been developed with Ridgeback Biotherapeutics. If authorized, it would be the first oral antiviral medication.

Joel Osteen's Texas megachurch has repaid millions received under the forgivable Paycheck Protection Program, the Houston Chronicle reports.

"Lakewood received about $4.4 million through the Paycheck Protection Program to cover payroll and other expenses as it shuttered in-person services for seven months last year.
