The View devolves into a shouting match as hosts bash Democratic inaction

They may have been animated, but the co-hosts of "The View" agreed on one thing: Democrats are failing in the fight against the GOP.

The discussion began by talking about Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who was censured by the Republican-led Congress and ten Democratic lawmakers who joined with them. Green shouted back at President Donald Trump, disagreeing that he had a "mandate" after his election.

After the vote, Democrats stood with Green in the well of the House singing "We Shall Overcome" in a moment of solidarity.

Sunny Hostin wanted to hear a list of Democrats so that they would not give a pass to those who abandoned their party to side with Republicans.

"Because they don't know how to fight and be part of an opposition party," Hostin began. "Rep. Green gave them the example. The Democrats are not meeting the moment. It is very clear that Medicaid is on the table. It is very clear that Social Security is on the table. It is very clear that people will die. The Baby Boomers, the civil rights generation, they knew what they had to do. They were willing to fight and die for their rights. This generation of Congress, they are not meeting the moment. This is an existential crisis."

After reading the names, former Donald Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin said that some Democrats disagreed with what Green did, noting that it was no better than Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-GA) outbursts at former President Joe Biden during the State of the Union Address.

They played a clip of Green speaking to a reporter after he was removed from the chamber, saying that he understands those who take issue with his outbursts.

"If you're going to protest and be an opposition party, do it with intentionality and make sure it works. Holding up signs is protesting -- are they being advised for people who use Windows 98?" Griffin said, calling it outdated. She also argued that the "we only lost by X million votes isn't a good message."

Joy Behar said Democrats are going to a "gun fight with a knife."

"Therein lies the problem, you see," longtime Republican strategist Ana Navarro said emphatically. "I like civility in Congress and I think that when you are in Congress, we are not at a WWE wrestling match. This is not the House of Commons. This is the U.S. Capitol. The problem is, that this is not happening in a vacuum."

She mentioned Greene, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) who screamed "You lie!" at Barack Obama in 2009.

"The congressional hearings lately have devolved into shouting matches that are shameful," Navarro continued. "And, frankly, like you, I have a really hard time being lectured by Republicans who are trying to whitewash and rewrite history because if you didn't stand up against Donald Trump's pardon of 1,500 insurrectionists who have violated the Capitol like no other time in history, then you don't have the right to clutch your pearls and be all outraged!"
