Donors who support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in his 2024 presidential bid are growing increasingly worried about his prospects in light of recent poor polling and campaign blunders, CNBC reported.
Despite raking in $20 million in fundraising, DeSantis' poor polling numbers compared to Donald Trump's, coupled with the recent declaration from the Murdoch family that they're losing faith in his ability to challenge Trump, has some donors voicing their concerns.
Billionaire Citadel CEO Ken Griffin is one of those donors. According to a spokesperson, he's continuing "to assess the field" in regards to GOP prospects for 2024.
Speaking to CNBC, DeSantis campaign spokesperson Andrew Romeo dismissed the concerns, saying, you "could wallpaper the governor’s residence with the amount of premature political obituaries written about Ron DeSantis."
"Challenging the establishment is never easy – and this campaign to save our nation is going to be a long, hard-fought battle to defeat Joe Biden,” Romeo said. “We are building an organization that will go the distance. Ron DeSantis is putting in the work to win, and as voters across the country continue to learn about his forward-looking plans to reverse Biden’s failures, he will earn the nomination.”
