The Department of Justice is investigating a conservative-backed effort in Wyoming to infiltrate the Democratic National Committee before the 2020 election, CNN reported.
Former British intelligence officials Richard Seddon and Susan Gore, along with others, were subpoenaed in the investigation that was apparently triggered by a 2021 New York Times article that detailed “an undercover operation by conservatives to infiltrate progressive groups, political campaigns, and the offices of Democratic as well as moderate Republican elected officials during the 2020 election cycle.”
The investigation is looking into whether any campaign finance laws have been broken and is being handled by the public corruption unit of the US attorney’s office in D.C.
Also subpoenaed were Erik Prince, the security contractor and brother to former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and James O’Keefe, the former head of Project Veritas.
