'Hold my beer': Angry Dem launches into 5-minute smackdown of Musk's DOGE

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) went off on a rant attacking Republicans for what President Donald Trump is calling his "big beautiful bill" for the 2026 budget.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk encouraged Republican lawmakers to vote against the measure because it would add $2.4 trillion to the deficit. Musk proclaimed last year during the campaign that he could cut $2 trillion from the government budget, but was only able to reach $160 billion of that goal.

Moskowitz ranted that even after all the cuts to programs like Medicaid and "Sesame Street," the House legislation still isn't deficit-neutral — and lawmakers can't balance the budget.

In a five-minute speech during a caucus meeting on the efficiency of government, Moskowitz said that he was hopeful that they could work to make government work better.

"But ask yourself, what have we made more efficient in the six months that DOGE has been around?" he asked about the Trump-created Department of Government Efficiency. "The other — things we have found that shouldn't exist. But name a department, name a system, name a service that this committee or the caucus or Elon has made more efficient."

He recalled Musk's promised cuts, noting he fell 85% short of the revised $1 trillion goal that changed in January.

"The DOGE caucus and process is like, hold my beer," he continued. "Let me show you what inefficiency really looks like. The DOGE caucus hasn't met in months. It had two meetings. Congress wasn't involved at all in the process in the executive branch. Elon's gone. The effort's dead. Buried. Rigor mortis is setting in. I feel sorry talking ill of the dead. I shouldn't do that."

An example he gave was Newark Airport, which he said wasn't made more efficient by the government cuts.

"Certainly, we've not made FEMA more efficient. The administrator doesn't know there's a hurricane season. Wait until he finds out there's five categories! We're gonna blow his mind!" the lawmaker continued.

"Nothing has been made more efficient by DOGE. No new technology in any of these departments. No lower costs — hasn't happened. We promised to tackle the national deficit and debt, they haven't done that. They made it worse by a big, bloated abomination bill. I mean, Elon has turned on them, but he's telling the truth! The bill will add to the deficit and it will add to the debt."

"Nothing has been made more efficient. Here are the wins for congressional Republicans. You ready? They're gonna do a $9 billion recission bill. They're gonna get rid of Elmo, which the American people were clamoring for," he said sarcastically. "But they're gonna add $2.4 trillion for the debt. And then they want us to cheer for them. Give them a trophy like they're a 5-year-old at a soccer game. Everyone gets a trophy!"

He went on to beg his colleagues to point to something that has been made more efficient.
