Beloved country and western star Dolly Parton stays out of the fray of partisan politics, but her latest rock anthem reveals her frustration.

Speaking to "The View" on Wednesday, Parton explained that she couldn't sleep one night and that's when she began working on the song.

"I thought, well, I don't know what I'm doing up but I'll make me a cup of coffee, and all of a sudden I started singing this song because I had watched the news the night before, as I have many times, thinking what in the world are we doing to each other and to this world?" said Parton.

"And, so I just felt led to write the song. I've got one more song I have to add to the 'Rockstar' album and my heart was just heavy with all the stuff, that I'm sure we're all heavy-hearted about these days. And I was just trying to throw a little light and try to make us think a little about what we're doing and seeing, if we might step up and try to make a change."

The lyrics Parton's song begins with are: "Liar, liar the world's on fire / Whatcha gonna do when it all burns down? / Fire, fire burning higher /Still got time to turn it all around. Now I ain't one for speaking out much /But that don't mean I don't stay in touch / Everybody's trippin' over this or that / What we gonna do when we all fall flat?"

Parton, a strong person of faith, goes on to mention a relationship with God, before alleging, "Greedy politicians, present and past / They wouldn't know the truth if it bit 'em in the a--."

The song goes on to ask if people can "show some love."
