President Donald Trump's latest social media rant accused former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, of perpetrating what he called the "crime of the century."
Trump's Monday evening rant on his Truth Social platform referenced his longstanding falsehood that the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible coordination with his campaign was a baseless hit job orchestrated by political enemies.
Trump and some right-wing outlets have claimed that Obama officials and Clinton fabricated evidence or created a false narrative to undermine his campaign and presidency. Investigations such as the famed Mueller report confirmed Russia meddled in the election by conducting an extensive social media campaign and engaging in cyberattacks aimed at tilting the election in Trump's favor. The Mueller probe did not find that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia in those efforts.
Trump, who has found himself embroiled in backlash from his own base over his administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, once again lashed out at his Democratic foes.
"Obama himself manufactured the Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX. Crooked Hillary, Sleepy Joe, and numerous others participated in this, THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY!. Irrefutable EVIDENCE. A major threat to our Country!!!" he railed.
