Mary Trump explains why her uncle might risk another ‘humiliating loss’ with 2024 presidential run

Mary Trump is increasingly convinced -- and increasingly alarmed -- that her uncle may run again for re-election.

Things are looking up for Republicans since Donald Trump's staggering loss to Joe Biden, and the twice-impeached one-term president's niece told The Daily Beast's "New Abnormal" podcast that he may have no choice but to seek another term in the White House to regain the protections that come with being chief executive.

"I thought it was impossible because he got defeated so badly [in 2020]," Mary Trump said. "It was such a humiliating loss that I believed he would never put himself at the risk of suffering that kind of narcissistic injury again."

"If Donald gets to the point where he believes that if he ran, he couldn't lose, why wouldn't he run?" she added. "He's in so much trouble, legally, criminally and civilly."

The dynamic looks favorable for a Republican challenger, even if it's the deeply unpopular former president.

"What gets completely left out of the narrative," Mary Trump said, "is the absolutely horrific hand Biden was dealt. Look what he came into office having to deal with."
