Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday called for the defeat of Republican speaker nominee Tom Emmer (R-MN).
While in New York attending his $250 million fraud trial, Trump commented on the news that Emmer was nominated by his party to be the next speaker of the House.
"I have many wonderful friends wanting to be Speaker of the House, and some are truly great Warriors. RINO Tom Emmer, who I do not know well, is not one of them," Trump said.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
The former president complained Emmer did not respect his endorsement or "the breadth and scope of MAGA."
Trump said it appeared Emmer had "learned his lesson."
"But who can ever be sure?" he continued. "Has he only changed because that's what it takes to win? The Republican Party cannot take that chance, because that's not where the America First Voters are."
"Voting for a Globalist RINO like Tom Emmer would be a tragic mistake!" Trump concluded.
