The interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Ed Martin, is raising eyebrows for comments he recently made on TNT's Lembit Opik Show, according to a Newsweek report.
According to Newsweek, Martin recently blamed "crazy Black ladies" for getting him ousted from his job as a right-wing political commentator on CNN several years ago.
"I was a CNN contributor/commenter for about a year. I got fired because the crazy Black ladies demanded I be fired because I didn't take their nonsense. Literally that happened," Martin told host Lembit Opik.
Per Newsweek, “CNN fired Martin in 2018, about a year after bringing him on. He had been hired to replace another conservative commentator, Jeffrey Lord, who was let go after tweeting a Nazi salute at the head of the liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America.”

It is unclear why Martin was fired. However, Newsweek reports the move came “shortly after he said on his radio show that some of his fellow panelists on a particular segment were ‘Black racists.’ Media Matters for America also accused him of ‘dishonesty and disruptions during on-air discussions.’”
Martin can serve as D.C’s interim U.S. Attorney for 120 days if he is not confirmed by the Senate, where Democrats are trying to block him from gaining confirmation.
However, he could be reappointed for an additional 120-day term until the position is officially filled with a Senate-confirmed Trump appointee.
Newsweek contacted Martin's office for comment via email and have not received a response.
