'Seems like their divorce is happening': Mockery as Musk lets rip on Trump bill

Tech billionaire and supporter of President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, is getting louder after his initial attack on the president's "big, beautiful bill" for the 2026 budget.

Last month, Musk told CBS last month he's sure the bill could be "big" or "beautiful," but not both. He added that he was "disappointed" at what the House Republicans had devised.

That went a step further on Tuesday as Musk took to X to blast the legislation that he said adds to a ballooning deficit as a "disgusting abomination."

It prompted mockery of the relationship between Musk and Trump, but it also caused agreement from liberals who were also angry about the bill.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) reposted Musk's tweet, agreeing he's "right."

"This bill IS a 'disgusting abomination,'" he cited. "We shouldn't give $664 billion in tax breaks to the 1%. We shouldn't throw 13.7 million people off of Medicaid.

"Seems like their divorce is happening ASAP!" said influencer Harry Sisson.

"I bet that the Trump Administration will investigate Musk's companies and charge him with something before the end of the year," posted Project Liberal executive director Joshua Reed Eakle on X.

Intellectual property lawyer Ken Parker remarked, "Sooner or later the demon-spawn always turn on each other. The Musky Nazi is no exception. Funny, but "disgusting abomination" is the exact phrase I have been using to describe him."

"So, the extremely obvious prediction that Musk and Trump would last 3-4 months before they got into a huge fight and broke was, in retrospect, pretty much 100% correct," quipped Jeremiah Johnson, founder of the Center for New Liberalism.

Commentator Richard Hanania questioned, "Do you think you might’ve contributed to this problem by spreading the idea that you could significantly cut spending by focusing on waste, fraud and abuse? That’s simply not true. Trump says you can balance the budget without touching entitlements. Do you agree with that?"

The Never-Trump group, The Lincoln Project, replied to Musk with a photo of a post-it note reading, "I'm sorry I can't. Don't hate me."

"Well, well, well, what will Republicans do now that their Musk doesn't like their Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill?" said Florida journalist and podcaster Grant Stern.

Already, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) confessed she no longer supports the bill. She claimed she voted for it without reading it and had no idea that some of the provisions were included.

The Trump Lie Tracker account posted a screen capture of the tweet saying, "Days after leaving the White House, Elon Musk throws Trump’s 'big, beautiful bill' under the bus. He then shames every Republican who voted for it. Wow."

Trump's goal is to pass the reconciliation bill by July 4.
